WORDEN DAY   (1916-1986)
Worden Day was born in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Randolph-Macon College, Ashland, Virginia, in 1934. In New York in the 1930s Day ran a WPA shop that printed illustrations for reading books for the Board of Education. She studied at the Art Student League and Atelier 17. From 1949 to 1952 she taught at the University of Wyoming. That stateÕs dramatic scenery, with huge mountains and Native American petroglyphs formed a basis for her work of the 1950s and it was there she pushed the boundaries of the woodcut.
