BURT HASEN   (1921-2007)
Burt Hasen was a native New Yorker whose work reflects his interest in both Surrealism and Cubism. He studied at the Art Students League, and with the painter Hans Hofmann. During World War II he served in the Air Force in the South Pacific and then studied for two years at the Acadmie de la Grande-Chaumire, in Paris, on the G.I. Bill. In 1994 he was elected to the National Academy of Design, and in 2000 was a winner of the art award of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
