STANLEY WILLIAM HAYTER   (1901-1988)
Stanley William Hayter is the renowned founder of Atelier 17. Whether in New York or in Paris, the studio focused on intaglio printmaking, technical experimentation, and innovation, and stylistically, the many aspects of Modernism. In particular, the work from Atelier 17 is associated with ÒAutomatism,Ó an aspect of Surrealism developed by Andre Breton, and the total abstraction of Constructivism.
