LAWRENCE A. JONES   (1910-1986)
In 1940 Lawrence Arthur Jones was awarded a Rosenwald Fellowship to study at the Taller de Grafica Popular, in Mexico. At that time he became acquinted with Diego Rivera and Jose Orozco. He left Mexico in 1941 to teach at the Fort Valley State College in Georgia. In 1942 he was drafted in to the US Army; he returned to Fort Valley when he was discharged in 1946. Jones left Georgia in 1949 to establish the art department at Jackson State University in Mississippi. He painted murals at both schools.
