GEORGES SCHREIBER   (1904-1977)
Widely respected as a major artist in the development of American Regionalism along with friends and Associated American Artists colleagues Thomas Hart Benton, John Steuart Curry, and Grand Wood, Georges Schreiber was born in Brussels. By the age of twenty-two he was a free-lance newspaper artist and in 1928 made a permanent move to New York. Here he was a contributor to The New York Times, The World, The Post and The National Broadcasting Corporation for whom he did portraits of radio personalities. Also in the 1930s he was a poster artist on the staff of RKO (Radio Keith Orpheum).
